A Childhood Injury

Little Maria braves the taunts of neighborhood children as her brother gives her a ride to school. In this small Arizona town, where power tools are freely available to anyone who has the cash to buy them, Maria is a living testament to the damage power tools can cause when in the wrong hands.

One hot summer evening, while her parents were asleep, Maria was playing in the garage when she discovered her daddy's belt sander, left laying out on his workbench. It only took a few seconds, but in those few seconds Maria's life (and face) were changed forever.
